Graduate Studies

The Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre offers three graduate programs, including one with a professional or research option, and two specialized doctoral programs allowing graduates to work in the following strategic research areas: advanced materials, nanosciences and nanotechnologies, photonics, telecommunications, and sustainable energy.

Master's in Energy Science and Materials / 3731

The objective of this program is to provide students with general knowledge in energy science and materials, to provide an introduction to research and a specialization within one of the Centre's research programs associated with materials, nanotechnologies, component engineering, ultrahigh speed photonics, or energy technologies (fuel cells).

♦ Master's in Telecommunications (program with research) / 3404

The objective of this program is to allow students to specialize in one of the sectors in the telecommunications field. By the end of this program, students will have acquired extensive knowledge and developed the ability to analyze and synthesize, enabling them to effectively plan and manage telecommunication systems.

Professional Master's in Telecommunications (professional program) / 3604

INRS now offers a joint program with the International Institute for Telecommunications - Research (ITT-R) as part of its Professional Master's Program in Telecommunications. In addition to having access to all of the resources at the Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications (Energy Materials Telecommunications) Research Centre, through this partnership students who enrol in the Professional Master's Program in Telecommunications will benefit from the guidance of IIT researchers in their research work. They will also have access to a unique wired and wireless network facility where they can learn about telecommunications and conduct R&D to design new applications.

Doctorate in Energy Science and Materials / 3732

The objective of this program is to broaden students' knowledge in one of the specialized fields of energy science and materials, while allowing them to perform research that should make an original contribution to knowledge or the application of knowledge in the practice of one of the Centre's research programs associated with materials, nanotechnologies, component engineering, ultrahigh speed photonics, or energy technologies (fuel cells).

Doctorate in Telecommunications / 3670

The goal of this program is to train telecommunications systems engineering researchers so they can master the necessary tools mathematics, electrical engineering, and computer science tools they need to conduct successful research. Students will be able to identify a research topic, plan a project, acquire information specific to the area of specialization, and understand the needs of the telecommunications industry.

Cooperation Agreement regarding collaborative academic training of doctoral students between INRS and Soochow University
INRS and Soochow University offer a collaborative doctoral training program in Energy Science and Materials for Chinese students, who study at Soochow University. Upon successfully completing the three year program, students are awarded a PhD. degree from both institutions.
